Oriane BERTONE of France
BERTONE BECOMES FIRST FRENCH WOMAN SINCE 2007 TO WIN BOULDER TITLE

The Réunionese climber topped the women's Boulder World Cup Rankings presented by Euroholds after a career-best season.

France’s Oriane Bertone capped a fantastic season by winning the women’s Boulder World Cup Rankings presented by Euroholds, becoming the first climber not named Natalia Grossman to take the title since 2019. Bertone’s 2025 campaign was built on consistency and clutch performances across four appearances, culminating in her first-ever Series title. Nakamura Mao of Japan finished second overall, followed by US climber Annie Sanders in third.

BERTONE BREAKS THROUGH FOR HISTORIC WIN

With 4,375 points, Bertone claimed her first career Series podium—and the top step. After placing fourth in 2023 and tenth in 2024, the 20-year-old French climber surged to the top with silvers in Keqiao, China; Curitiba, Brazil; and Innsbruck, Austria; and a gold in Prague, Czechia, following the cancellation of the final round. Bertone is the first French woman to win the Boulder Series since Juliette Danion in 2007. Her consistency and resilience throughout the year marked her as one of the season’s most impressive performers.

NAKAMURA AND SANDERS CLAIM CAREER-BEST FINISHES

Nakamura Mao of Japan improved on her third place from last season to take second in this year's Boulder Series with 3,480 points. The 20-year-old earned her first career World Cup victory in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, and added two fourth-place finishes and two fifths to round out a solid year.

Annie Sanders of the USA placed third with 3,290 points, despite missing one event in Curitiba. The 17-year-old reached four finals, placed outside the top 10 only once—in Prague—and collected gold in Keqiao, silver in Bern, and bronze in Salt Lake City to complete her medal collection. It is also her first Series podium finish.

SCORING RULE UPDATE SHAPES 2025 RANKINGS

An important change to the IFSC World Cup Rankings format took effect in 2025: unlike previous seasons, where the lowest score was dropped for athletes competing in more than five events, this year all results counted toward the final total. The rule shift rewarded season-long consistency and played a key role in shaping the final standings.
