BERTONE WINS ONCE MORE IN PRAGUE

French climber joined by World Cup medal first timers Calliet and Sekikawa

France’s Oriane Bertone once again stepped onto the top of the IFSC Boulder World Cup podium in Prague, Czechia with her semi-final performance securing the medal.

Due to ‘windy weather conditions and the inability to ensure the safety of the athletes and spectators’, the Local Organising Committee alongside IFSC representatives took the difficult decision to cancel the women’s final round meaning the standings from the semi-final were confirmed as the overall.

It meant Bertone won the second gold of her career, and both in the same city. Bertone also won gold in 2023 in Prague’s debut on the World Cup circuit.

French teammate Agathe Calliet also stepped onto the podium in silver for her first ever World Cup medal after finishing second in the semi-finals.

In third spot and also getting her first World Cup medal was Japan’s Sekikawa Melody who took bronze.

Unfortunately, not getting the chance to participate in the final round, Great Britain’s Emma Edwards and Spain’s Geila Macià Martín still managed a personal best by finishing within the top eight and making the final.

Edwards finished in fifth and Macià Martín was eighth.

The IFSC Boulder World Cup moves on to Bern, Switzerland next week for the fifth of six rounds in the 2025 series.

News and updates about the event will be available on the IFSC website and on the Federation’s digital channels: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, TikTok, X, YouTube, and exclusively for the Chinese audience, Douyin, Weibo, and Xiaohongshu.
