MEIGNAN CLAIMS FIRST WORLD CUP GOLD IN CURITIBA

France and Italy share the podium in the Women’s Boulder final at the fourth Climbing World Cup of 2025.

The final act of the women’s Boulder competition at the IFSC Climbing World Cup Curitiba 2025 played out on in front of a passionate crowd of 1,200 people. Following a close semi-final earlier in the day, eight finalists returned to the wall for the medal round, with Naïlé Meignan of France rising to the top in her first appearance of the season.

FINAL BATTLE ENDS IN FRENCH VICTORY

Meignan secured her first-ever World Cup gold with a dominant 99.6 points, flashing boulders two, three, and four to edge out compatriot Oriane Bertone, who finished second with 99.5. Bertone, who also topped all four problems, earned her tenth World Cup podium.

Maignan said after the final: “It feels amazing to win in my first competition of the year. I wasn’t expecting to be this good, but for sure it feels great.

“I was a bit tense on the first boulder, but then I felt more confident and was able to flash the following three problems.

“I will compete in Salt Lake City now, and it would be great to win another medal there!”

Camilla Moroni of Italy clinched the bronze medal with 83.8 points, flashing the final problem to secure her second career World Cup medal after her silver in Keqiao earlier this year.

JAPANESE ATHLETES CLOSE BEHIND

Japan filled the next four spots in the ranking: Nakamura Mao placed fourth with 69.7 points, Sekikawa Melody was fifth with 69.5, Ito Futaba sixth with 69.4, and Matsufuji Anon seventh with 49.5.

Nekaia Sanders of the United States concluded the round in eighth place with 34.8 points, capping her first appearance in a World Cup final.
