ANRAKU DOMINATES MEN’S BOULDER IN CURITIBA

Japan’s rising star wins all three rounds at the IFSC Climbing World Cup Curitiba 2025.

The men’s Boulder final concluded this evening, 17 May, at the IFSC Climbing World Cup Curitiba 2025 in front of a passionate crowd of 1,200 fans. Anraku Sorato of Japan completed a commanding sweep of the competition, finishing first in qualification, semi-final, and final to take his fourth career World Cup gold.

ANRAKU LEADS ONCE AGAIN

The 18-year-old Japanese talent delivered a composed and controlled performance in the final, scoring 69.7 points and securing tops on boulders M1 and M3. Already dominant in the earlier rounds, he was the only athlete to top all four problems in the semi-final, and now stands as the undisputed leader of the men's Boulder field in Curitiba.

"I'm very happy for my second World Cup gold in a row, but I wanted to send boulder number four..." said Anraku after the final. "I rested a lot on my attempts because I had no power left, but I felt confident.

"I'm not thinking about winning the Series, I will focus on one event at a time, so now it's time to focus on Salt Lake City."

France’s Mejdi Schalck placed second with 58.9 points, with tops on M1 and M4—his seventh career World Cup medal. Bronze went to Japan’s Narasaki Tomoa, who earned 39.0 points and stepped on the podium for the 26th time in a World Cup event.

Schalck commented: "This medal has a crazy taste because everything I have done in my training has paid off. But I'm a bit frustrated for not winning this one because I really wanted it. And I think I was in the good spirit to win.

Then adding: "I'm 10 times stronger when the crowd is pushing me."
