Japanese star leads the field into the men’s Boulder final at the IFSC Climbing World Cup Curitiba 2025.
The Boulder competition continued today, 17 May, at the IFSC Climbing World Cup Curitiba 2025 with the men’s semi-final. The top 24 athletes from qualification battled for one of the eight spots available in tonight’s final.
ANRAKU LEADS ONCE AGAIN
Anraku Sorato of Japan maintained his dominant form by taking first place in the semi-final with 99.6 points. He was the only climber to top all four boulders, securing his position as the favourite for the title.
Second place went to fellow Japanese climber Narasaki Tomoa, who scored 84.9 points. Narasaki flashed the first three boulders and maintained consistency throughout the round.
France’s Mejdi Schalck followed in third place with 83.9 points, also showing strong form as he advanced to the final.
FINALISTS DECIDED
Austria’s Jan-Luca Posch earned fourth place with 68.5 points, followed by Anze Peharc of Slovenia in fifth with 59.4. Japan’s Amagasa Sohta and Fujiwaki Yuji placed sixth and seventh with 59.2 and 58.9 points respectively, while Paul Jenft of France completed the finalist list in eighth place with 54.9.
Peharc commented on his round: “I must say I’m really happy with my climbing. I finally managed to compose myself and show my best. Maybe boulder number two wasn’t my best performance because I chose the wrong beta for five minutes, so I didn’t even try the right solution. Overall, I felt relaxed. The atmosphere was really good and I managed to show my best.”
