IFSC WORLD CUP WUJIANG 2024: FACTS AND STATS

The second World Cup event of the year features the first Lead and Speed competitions of 2024, with 235 athletes from 37 registered to compete.

Wujiang 2024 will be 396th Climbing World Cup event in the history of the Federation – including both UIAA and IFSC – the 41st organised in China, ninth in Wujiang.

The event will include the 225th pair of Lead World Cup competitions, and the 135th pair of Speed ones.

In total, 235 climbers – 128 male and 107 female – are registered to participate, representing 37 countries and territories, and four continents, and competing in four medal events: women’s Lead, women’s Speed, men’s Lead, and men’s Speed.

HIGHLIGHTS

Kim Jain of South Korea will participate in her 100th Lead competition. She is currently fourth in the all-time list, placing behind Mina Markovic of Slovenia – third with 108, Jenny Lavarda of Italy – second with 112, and Barbara Bacher of Austria – first with 116.

Speed climber Marcin Dzienski of Poland is the most experienced athlete in the discipline, as he will make his 63rd start in a Speed World Cup competition.
