Two more editions confirmed for the Czech capital, while Brno prepares to host the Climbing and Para Climbing World Championships in 2027.
The IFSC and the Local Organising Committee of the IFSC World Cup Prague are pleased to announce that the Climbing World Cup Series will return to the Czech capital for two more editions – in 2026 and 2028 – further cementing the role of Prague on the international Climbing scene.
The announcement follows the resounding success of three consecutive IFSC World Cup events in the city, beginning with its debut on the calendar in 2023, followed by a highly acclaimed second edition in September 2024, and the third competition currently underway in 2025. Since its inaugural edition, the Climbing World Cup in Prague has drawn enthusiastic live crowds and substantial international broadcast audiences, quickly establishing itself as one of the most anticipated and well-attended events of the season.
In the Summer of 2026, the event will take on even greater significance, as it will expand to include both Boulder and Lead disciplines, offering athletes and fans an all-around Climbing experience. The inclusion of Lead will also give Czech Climbing legend Adam Ondra the opportunity to continue performing in front of his passionate home crowd, as he recently announced that Prague 2025 will be his final Boulder World Cup competition.
The continued presence of the World Cup in Prague comes as Czechia also prepares to take on hosting duties for the IFSC Climbing and Para Climbing World Championships in 2027, set to take place in the city of Brno.
IFSC President Marco Scolaris said: “I am glad to see that the IFSC programme to secure a rich calendar for the years to come is resulting in more and more great events like Prague confirmed for several successive seasons.”
“This is a proud moment for Czech Climbing,” added Jan Bloudek, President of the Czech Climbing Federation and IFSC Europe Board Member. “Over the past three years, our team has worked tirelessly to create a world-class event in Prague. The response from fans and athletes alike has been incredible. With the World Cup staying in Prague and the World Championships coming to Brno in 2027, we are excited to keep writing this chapter in Czech Climbing history.”
