The French coach and former athlete passed away last week.
The IFSC is deeply saddened by the passing of Corinne Théroux, a dedicated coach and a key contributor to the development of French Climbing.
Corinne was a valued member of the FFME in the early 2000s: a double World Cup silver medallist in 2001 and 2002, a bronze medallist at the European Championships in 2004; she also reached third place in the Boulder world ranking. Beyond her achievements as an athlete, she served as National Coach, guiding and inspiring a generation of climbers, and later founded Team K-You, an innovative international training group bringing together climbers from multiple nations.
Her passion, kindness, and belief in athletes’ potential inspired many within the Climbing community.
IFSC President Marco Scolaris, the Executive Board, National Federations, and IFSC staff extend their heartfelt condolences to her husband, Olivier, and daughters, Mila and Fantine.
Marco Scolaris remembers her: "Corinne gave so much to the world of Climbing — first as an athlete, then as a coach. Her determination and passion carried her from competition boulders to shaping the next generation of climbers, founding Team K-You along the way. Many athletes owe their growth to her guidance and belief in them. Corinne was a born fighter, and she faced her most difficult battle — one that lasted for years and was bigger than herself — with the same courage and strength that defined her life. I remember her with a tear and a smile."
