Top-tier performances light up women’s Boulder qualification at the Boulder World Cup competition of the season.
The third Boulder World Cup competition of the IFSC World Cup Series 2025 got underway in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, where the women’s qualification round highlighted several strong performances from a variety of seasoned champions and emerging talents.
TOP PERFORMERS
Oriane Bertone of France set the standard, flashing all five boulders and securing a perfect 125.0-point score. Just 0.2 points behind was Nonaka Miho of Japan, who flashed four of her boulders in a display of clean, confident climbing. Japan’s strength was further underscored by Sekikawa Melody and Ito Futaba, who both tallied 124.7 points – each with three flashes – and finished in joint third place.
Nonaka said: “I think it was an easy round, and I wish I could have flashed all the boulders, but the last move on boulder number three was hard for me, It took a few tries to figure out the last coordination move.
"It’s been super busy since I’ve opened my gym. I haven’t had much time to train. But I’m trying so hard to make it happen. I just want to enjoy the comp here in Salt Lake City. I want to go to the final and I want to get the medal, of course, but at the same time I really want to enjoy competing here, because Salt Lake is one of my favorite World Cups through the season, and I skipped it last year because of the OQS, so I’m just happy to be here.”
SEMI-FINALISTS CONFIRMED
The top 24 athletes advanced to the semi-final, with names like Naïlé Maignan of France, Oceania Mackenzie of Australia, and Camilla Moroni of Italy continuing their consistent season runs. Among the most notable results was Helen Gillett of the USA, who qualified for her second-ever Boulder semi-final round, finishing in 18th position with 94.0 points.
