Psychology and Mental Health
Athlete mental wellbeing is a vital part of overall performance and health. The IFSC is conducting an ongoing research study to explore the complex relationship between mental health, burnout, and athletic performance in sport climbing. By engaging directly with athletes, the study aims to raise awareness, identify risk factors, and provide evidence to support interventions and guidance for climbers, coaches, and support staff. Insights from this research help shape programs that promote resilience, motivation, and emotional wellbeing in the climbing community.
"As professional athletes, we face unique stressors – ranging from performance pressure to dealing with failure. This questionnaire is the first step in a project that we hope will come to life with the support of the IFSC."
