Athlete health
Athlete health is a fundamental priority for the IFSC. It encompasses an athlete’s physical, mental, and social well-being, and it is essential for both performance and long-term development in sport. Health is not defined only by the absence of injury, but by the presence of supportive conditions that allow athletes to train, compete, and grow safely.
Maintaining athlete health requires a holistic approach. This includes proper nutrition, regular and sport-specific training, sufficient rest and sleep, and effective injury-prevention strategies. Equally important are the mental and emotional components of performance—managing stress, maintaining motivation, and accessing psychological support when needed.
To support athletes, coaches, and National Federations, the IFSC provides a range of policies, guidelines, and educational resources aimed at safeguarding health and promoting safe sport.
