LAVAL CROWNS ITS FINAL CHAMPIONS AS THE 2025 SEASON COMES TO AN END

World champions and rising stars shared the spotlight in the last event of the 2025 Para Climbing season, bringing the curtain down in style in France.

The final day of the IFSC Para Climbing World Cup Laval 2025 at the Espace Mayenne brought another wave of outstanding performances, with world champions, newcomers, and national favourites all taking turns atop the podium as the season concluded.

BARTKE ADDS WORLD CUP GOLD TO WORLD TITLE

In the men’s AU2 sport class, newly crowned world champion Kevin Bartke of Germany topped the route to win gold – his second World Cup victory of the season. Isak Ripman of Norway claimed silver with 45+, while Eduardo Miguel Schuas of Brazil completed the podium in third place with 40+.

DOMINANT RUNS AND FIRST-TIME WINNERS IN RP CLASSES

Continuing her commanding form, Melissa Ruiz of the USA secured her third consecutive gold medal in the women’s RP1 category after victories at the World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria, and World Championships in Seoul, South Korea. Ruiz won with a score of 41, comfortably ahead of her teammate Hannah Zook, who earned silver with 28+. Andrea Sánchez Aparicio of Spain rounded out the podium with 21+.

In men’s RP2, Manikandan Kumar of India delivered a breakout performance to claim his first World Cup gold of 2025, narrowly edging Philipp Hrozek of Germany, 44+ to 44. Daniel Wiener of Austria followed with 40 for bronze. Meanwhile, Kim Rishaug of Norway broke Aloïs Pottier’s season-long streak by taking gold in men’s RP1 with 42, just ahead of Korbinian Franck of Germany, second with 41+, and Andries Hille Oudijk of the Netherlands, who took bronze with 39+.

B CLASSES BRING HIGH DRAMA AND PERFECT CLIMBS

The visually impaired sport classes once again delivered thrilling battles: Aita Sho of Japan continued his extraordinary run in men’s B1, taking his 17th gold medal in 18 international appearances by topping the route. Following an appeal, Francisco Javier Aguilar Amoedo of Spain was upgraded to 40+ – the same score as Nicolas Moineau of France – with Aguilar Amoedo earning silver thanks to his higher qualification ranking, and Moineau taking bronze.

In the women’s B1 final, Nadia Bredice of Italy bounced back from her silver in Seoul to claim gold with 36. Tanja Glusic of Slovenia matched that score but settled for silver based on her previous-round ranking, while Emeline Lakrout of the USA completed the podium with 27.

Making his mark on the international stage, Daniel Morante Clemente of Spain topped all qualification and final routes in men’s B2, winning gold in his first-ever international competition. World champion Razvan Nedu of Romania took silver with 44, and Guillermo Pelegrín Gómez of Spain claimed bronze with 43+.

In the women’s B2 final, Linda Le Bon of Austria edged Luisa Grube of Germany in a nail-biting finish, both scoring 54+, with the Austrian winning on time after tying in qualification. Ivon Lawerenz of Germany secured bronze with 42.

Men’s B3 saw Cosmin Florin Candoi of Romania complete a flawless season, sweeping three World Cups and the World Championships. He topped the final route for gold, followed by Minowada Kazuhiro of Japan with 45, and Daniel-Bebe-Vasilică of Romania with 39. France earned its first gold of the evening with Elsa Boutel Menard, who topped the route in the women’s B3 final. Ejiri Yumi of Japan finished second with 41+, and Agnieszka Kwolek of Poland placed third with 21.

Lucie JARRIGE of France

FRENCH GLORY CLOSES THE SHOW

The home crowd had much to celebrate once again, as France added one final gold to its tally.

Angelino Zeller of Austria sealed a spectacular season in the men’s AL1 category with 47+, claiming his fourth gold in as many events. His teammate Markus Pösendorfer followed with 32+ for silver, while Marek Dučák of Slovakia earned bronze with 26+.

The night — and the 2025 Para Climbing season — concluded with a dominant win from Lucie Jarrige of France in women’s AL2. Jarrige scored 47+ to secure her fourth gold medal of the year, sweeping the international season. Fiamma Cocchi of Italy took silver with 29, and Esme Harte of Great Britain captured bronze with 23.

A record number of 18 nations featured on the final medal table of the event.

France topped the standings with five golds and two bronzes, while Germany collected the highest overall tally of eight medals — one gold, five silvers, and two bronzes.
