ZAKOPANE AWARDS VIGLIONE AND TKACH WITH EUROPEAN GOLDS

The second European Cup in Speed closed with the French and Ukrainian flags at the top of the podiums.

The city of Zakopane, Poland, hosted the second Speed competition of the 2025 European Cup circuit, with 22 women and 36 men taking part and representing 11 nations – including a small contingent from Australia.

VIGLIONE’S SUB-7 STREAK

In the women’s final, France’s Paris 2024 Olympian Capucine Viglione claimed victory with a clean and powerful run, constantly running below the seven-second mark – 6.87 in the round of 16, followed by 6.85, 6.80, and 6.64 in the gold medal race.

Spain’s Leslie Adriana Romero Pérez secured silver and closed with 7.02 seconds. Anna Brożek of Poland took bronze with 7.45 and bested Nele Thomas of Germany in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

The bronze in the men’s event went to Marceau Garnier of France, who beat Aodhan Umlauf of Germany with the time of 5.26 seconds.
