BOULDER EUROPEAN CUP SERIES WRAPS UP IN BRUSSELS

France’s Leo Favot won his second European Cup gold of the season, while Great Britain’s Emma Edwards climbed atop the podium for the first time in her career.

The final Boulder event of the IFSC European Cup Series 2025 took place in Brussels, Belgium, at the Le Camp de Base Climbing gym. On 3 and 4 May, the venue welcomed a stacked field of athletes, with competitors ranging from World Cup participants to Youth World and European medallists.

The level of the competition was high and the atmosphere great, with top-level setting combining with the energy of talented, young climbers testing themselves on the senior circuit.

FAVOT CLOSES EUROPEAN CAMPAIGN WITH SECOND GOLD

In the men’s final, Leo Favot of France secured the win with 69.3, closing a very successful campaign that also included a bronze medal in Munich, Germany, and gold medal in Rome, Italy. His World Cup participation in China, where he placed 13th, marked him as one of the most promising climbers in the circuit.

Youth athletes Samuel Richard of France and Corentin Laporte of Belgium both scored 54.7 points in the final round and 69.4 in the semi-final one, with the French 17-year-old taking silver thanks to a better placement in qualification, and the 18-year-old home favourite placing third.

THIRD EVENT, THIRD GOLD WOMEN’S GOLD MEDALLIST

fresh off her World Cup debut, Emma Edwards of Great Britain dominated the women’s Boulder final round to take her first-ever European Cup gold with 84.8 points. Lily Abriat of France, gold medallist at the European Cup in Rome, Italy, continued to impress with her second consecutive podium. She took silver with 69.9 points.

Geila Macià Martín of Spain completed the podium in third place after narrowly missing it at Rome 2025. The Spanish climber closed with 69.6 points.

MEDAL TABLE

As the European Boulder season concluded, France emerged as a dominant force across the circuit, finishing with 10 total medals: four golds, three silvers, and three bronzes. Germany and Great Britain are the two other national teams that secured at least one gold.
