The second of three World Cup events in Asia will feature Lead and Speed competitions.
The IFSC Climbing World Cup Wujiang 2025 is the 405th World Cup event in history, featuring the 231st Lead and 140th Speed World Cup competitions. Also, it is the 43rd Climbing World Cup held in China, and the 10th in Wujiang.
The first IFSC World Cup event in Wujiang took place in 2013, and continued for six more consecutive years until 2019. All three disciplines have been part of the programme in Wujiang, with Boulder making only one appearance in 2019, alongside Speed. In 2023, the city in the Jiangsu province returned on the IFSC calendar in 2023, and has been confirmed ever since with Lead and Speed now firmly in the schedule.
ATHLETES’ HIGHLIGHTS
Seven of the nine Lead female medallists from the World Cup Series 2024 are registered to compete in Wujiang, with the only missing climbers being Japan's Mori Ai and Slovenia's Janja Garnbret.
In the men's list, seven of the 11 Lead medallists from the World Cup Series 2024 are expected to compete in Wujiang. The four missing ones are Jakob Schubert of Austria, Alexander Megos of Germany, Murashita Zento of Japan, and Colin Duffy of the USA.
Speed climber Anna Brozek of Poland is the most experienced athlete attending Wujiang 2025, with her 48th Speed World Cup competition, and is now sixth in the female all-time list. On the other hand, Ludovico Fossali of Italy is in seventh place in the male all-time list, as he is set to participate in his 49th Speed World Cup competition.

THE PROGRAMME
Three days of Climbing action are set to begin tomorrow, Friday, 25 April with Lead and Speed qualifications – respectively scheduled to start at 9:00 (UTC+8:00) and 19:00. Saturday, 26 April will feature Lead semi-finals and Speed finals, while Lead finals are closing the programme on Sunday night, 27 April.
