ATHLETES GATHER FOR THIRD FORUM AND ITA SEMINAR IN SEOUL

Athletes take advantage of coming together to get and share information

With climbers from around the world in Seoul, South Korea, the moment was seized to host the third Athletes’ Forum and for the International Testing Agency (ITA) to present a seminar to the attendees.

The meeting was opened by IFSC President Marco Scolaris, who recalled the key role of athletes in the IFSC structure, and by Sean McColl, member of the Executive Board and Vice President of the Athletes' Commission, who is currently ending his term of office - together with Shauna Coxsey - after many years spent coordinating athletes while competing at the highest level.

There were presentations by the IFSC Sport and the Media & Communications departments with a focus on the Los Angeles Olympic Games, the organisation of World Cup competitions, and a summary of recent operations implemented to increase the visibility of athletes.

A question and answer sessions allowed the athletes present to interact with IFSC staff and clarify some doubts relating to competitions or the marketing side of the organisation and sport.

USA’s Paul Martin, men's RP1 climber said: "I'm glad I went. I was very impressed by the involvement of the able-bodied athletes that were there. I thought they did a really good job of asking questions about Para as well as the able-bodied side of things. It was good to hear more about LA28."

The Athletes' Forum was followed by a seminar held by Janice Lyn, ITA Education Ambassador, who gave athletes and teams an extremely lively and engaging presentation, with visuals on the risks of doping for athletes, which can also be hidden behind distractions or carelessness that should be avoided.
