ITO FUTABA FLASHES HER WAY INTO THE SEMI-FINAL, STASA GEJO ALSO TAKES TOP POSITION
Day one of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria, opened with the men’s and women’s Boulder qualification rounds, taking place simultaneously on the two walls of the Kletterzentrum Innsbruck.
The women’s Boulder qualification finished with Ito Futaba of Japan, and Stasa Gejo of Serbia taking first place in their respective groups. The Japanese climber, still chasing the first World Cup medal of her career, placed first in group A with five flashes. Gejo, currently ranked fifth in the Boulder World Cup 2022 ranking, finished atop group B with five tops and five zones.
The three medallists of the IFSC World up in Brixen, Italy – Natalia Grossman of the USA, Hannah Meul of Germany, and Luo Zhilu of China – all advanced to the semi-final round.
