KAPLINA SETS NEW SPEED WORLD RECORD IN MOSCOW
With a time of 6,964 seconds, Iuliia Kaplina of Russia today achieved a new Speed World Record in the Speed qualification round of the IFSC European Championships.
Climbing on home turf in the Russian capital of Moscow, Kaplina became the second woman in Sport Climbing history to top the Speed wall in sub-seven seconds. In doing so, the Russian athlete not only set a new women’s Speed World Record, but also a European Record.
IFSC Jury President Wim Verhoeven declared the record, which was set on an IFSC Certified Speed Wall produced by Skalodrom.Ru. Vincent Caussé, Technical Delegate of the competition, completed the wall checks and homologation process prior to the competition on November 20.
