IFSC Executive Board Teleconference April 2019
Following the first two events of the 2019 Sport Climbing season in Meiringen and Moscow, members of the IFSC Executive Board came together yesterday, 17th April, for their monthly teleconference.
A recap of events was offered by the Sport Department, in addition to discussions over preparations for the coming events in 2019, including an overview of the qualification system for Toulouse 2019 which is to be released alongside the event Infosheet. Paraclimbing development and the Paraclimbing calendar were then raised, with more detailed information scheduled to be published shortly. Finalising the talks around 2019 events, registration deadlines for the World Championships, Paraclimbing World Championships and Youth World Championships were confirmed.
Proceedings continued with a forward-glance at the coming years, taking note of the applications so far received to host IFSC World Cup events in 2020 and 2021. Sport Director Silvia Verdolini also gave insight into the International Federation (IF) Gender Equality Forum, which took place in Lausanne, Switzerland, last Friday (12th April).
Developments surrounding the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 were next shared by Head of Olympic Coordination Jérôme Meyer and IFSC Consultant/Athletes’ Commission Member Charlotte Durif, together with an outline of the Olympic Engagement Project and a summary of last weekend’s International Athletes’ Forum in Lausanne (13-15th April).
Marketing & Communications Director Anne Fuynel informed the Board of Broadcasting plans for 2019, sponsorship updates, and strategies to develop IFSC events moving forward. Federico Ferro, who recently joined the IFSC Marketing & Communications team as Venue Delegate, was then introduced to the Executive Board.
National Federation membership statuses were reviewed and the IFSC Golden Members Programme was subsequently finalised, before Administration Director Francesca Jengo notified the Board of staffing updates.
Finally, a first timeline for the strategic plan was introduced, with deliberations over Continental Council involvement.
The next Executive Board teleconference will be held on 22nd May at 14:00 CEST.
