JAPANESE NHK AMONG BROADCASTERS OF THE IFSC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS BERN 2023

The wait for the most important Sport Climbing event of the season is finally over: on 1 August, the 18th edition of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Championships will commence in the Swiss capital, Bern, then concluding on Saturday 12, after almost two weeks of intense action.

A record number of 428 athletes have registered to participate, representing 54 countries and territories, and competing in eight medal events: men’s Boulder, Lead, Speed, and Boulder & Lead; plus, women’s Boulder, Lead, Speed, and Boulder & Lead. Additionally, a total of 10 Olympic quota places for Paris 2024 will be distributed: two in men’s and women’s Speed; and three in men’s and women’s Boulder & Lead.

The following is a comprehensive list of where fans will be able to watch the event.

AFRICA

In Africa, Boulder, Lead, and Boulder & Lead semi-finals and finals, along with Paraclimbing finals, and Speed qualifications and finals will all be available on the IFSC YouTube channel.

ASIA

Japanese public broadcaster NHK will show Speed and Boulder & Lead finals – the four events that will distribute quota places for the Olympic Games Paris 2024. All other finals – in Boulder and Lead as single disciplines – will be available on J-Sports. Additionally, these rounds will be geo-blocked on YouTube in Japan.

Also in Japan, semi-finals, Speed qualifications, and Paraclimbing finals will be streamed on the IFSC YouTube channel.

The remaining events of the IFSC World Cup Series 2023 calendar will also be broadcasted by J Sports, and consequently geo-blocked on YouTube.

Climbing fans in Indonesia will be able to watch all Climbing finals on the national public channel TVRI. The rest of the World Championships will be available on the IFSC YouTube channel.

In the rest of Asia, Boulder, Lead, and Boulder & Lead semi-finals and finals, along with Paraclimbing finals, and Speed qualifications and finals will all be available on the IFSC YouTube channel.

EUROPE

In Europe, the IFSC World Championships Bern 2023 will be on Discovery+ and Eurosport. A number of selected rounds, still to be defined, will also be transmitted by the linear channels of Eurosport.

Additionally, in Switzerland, the event will also be broadcasted by public television SRF.

NORTH AND CENTRAL AMERICA

In North America, Boulder, Lead, and Boulder & Lead semi-finals and finals, along with Paraclimbing finals, and Speed qualifications and finals will all be available on the IFSC YouTube channel.

OCEANIA

Boulder, Lead, and Boulder & Lead semi-finals and finals, along with Paraclimbing finals, and Speed qualifications and finals will all be available on the IFSC YouTube channel.

SOUTH AMERICA

ESPN Latin America holds the rights to broadcast the IFSC World Championships Bern 2023 in South America.
