NEW BOULDER & LEAD SCORE DISTRIBUTION TO BE APPLIED IN MORIOKA, IWATE
The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup in Morioka, Iwate, Japan, will be the second international event featuring the new Paris 2024 format of Boulder & Lead – the first one being the European Championships Munich 2022.
The final IFSC World Cup of the season will see the application of a slightly amended scoring system. The changes will only have an impact on the way points are distributed: each round will still be worth 100 points, and the maximum total score will remain 200.
In the Boulder round:
- Twenty-five (25) points will be awarded where the competitor has controlled the top hold, regardless as to whether the competitor has controlled any zone hold on the boulder;
- Ten (10) points will be awarded where the competitor has controlled the second zone hold but not the top hold, regardless as to whether the first zone hold has been controlled on any attempt; and
- Five (5) points will be awarded where the competitor has controlled the first zone hold only.
In the Lead round:
- The highest 40 holds of the Lead route will grant points to the athletes;
- The highest 10 holds of the Lead route will grant a score of 4 points for each hold;
- The following 10 holds of the Lead route will grant a score of 3 points for each hold;
- The following 10 holds of the Lead route will grant a score of 2 points for each hold;
- The following 10 holds of the Lead route will grant a score of 1 points for each hold; and
- The remaining number of holds of the Lead route will grant a score of 0 points for each hold.
The IFSC Boulder & Lead World Cup in Morioka, Iwate, Japan will take place from 20 to 22 October.
News and updates about the event will be available on the IFSC website, and on the Federation’s digital channels: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok.
