WHAT THEY SAID:

Sunniva Ovre-Eide, Norway:

“I’ve never been to Dallas before but I’ve been to the US quite a few times, it’s nice to come back now I am a little bit older.

“The venue here is really nice, I like the gradient of the wall and I feel like it’s really cool to have six Boulders because you can climb a lot of different types.”

On her performance:
“I did pretty well. The first three Boulders were quite hard for me but the last three were great for me. I flashed two and the last one I did it on the second go.”

On her goals for the event:
“My goal was first to get into the semifinals, which I have done, and now I just want to climb, have fun and do my best in the semifinals.”

Jose Tomas Ledesma, Chile:

“It’s my first time in Dallas and this event feels like it takes a lot of organisation, so it’s really nice to get the experience here.

“I found the climbing pretty hard as I feel it didn’t suit my style and what I’ve practiced, but overall I’m quite happy with how I performed. I’m also going to be doing speed climbing in a couple of days time so we will see how the event as a whole goes.”

Sovarae Sanders, USA:

“It’s been very fun today, I’ve had a good time. This is my first Worlds and I’ve made it through to the next round so I’m very excited about that.

“It’s also my first time at this gym, and it’s really nice. I wish I could train here every day."

On the routes:
“The routes were tricky but super fun. I’m a big fan of jumping and we got some in so I really enjoyed all of them."

On her goals for the event:

“I have no goals for this event. My only goal really was just to make it here and I’ve already fulfilled it so now I’m just here to have fun.”
