UPDATED ASOIF STATUTES TO ALLOW IFSC TO BECOME FULL MEMBER

Following Sport Climbing’s inclusion on the sports programme for the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 and recent statute updates by the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) is now eligible to apply to become a full member of the umbrella body for summer International Federations.

The news marks another important milestone in the young history of the IFSC, and follows Sport Climbing’s successful Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 and its inclusion at the next two editions of the Games: Paris 2024 and LA28.

The IFSC has been an ASOIF Associate Member since 2017.

“We warmly welcome the recent changes to the ASOIF statutes, which should now allow us to become a fully-fledged Member of the Olympic Movement, something we have aspired to since our founding in 2007,” said IFSC President Marco Scolaris. “While remaining steadfastly focused on our preparations for Paris 2024, which are in full swing with the recently approved Qualification System, we will now also attend to our ASOIF application, which, when approved, would be another tremendous foothold for our young Federation within the Olympic family.”
