IFSC MOURNS THE LOSS OF MELINDA VIGH

The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) is saddened to learn of the loss of Hungarian Paraclimber Melinda Vigh, aged 39.

Vigh competed in nine international Paraclimbing competitions since 2016, climbing atop the podium in eight of them. The Hungarian achieved silver medals at the 2016 and 2019 IFSC Paraclimbing World Championships in the AU2 Sport Class, adding a bronze to her collection at the latest edition of the Championships held in Briançon, France, in 2019. Vigh’s latest competitive achievement was second place at the IFSC Paraclimbing World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria, in June 2021, where she reached a height of 25+ in the AU2 final.

Hiking Germany’s third highest peak – the Watzmann – Vigh tragically suffered a fatal fall on Saturday 7 August.

The IFSC’s thoughts are with Vigh’s loved ones at this difficult time.
