IFSC HOLDS TELECONFERENCE WITH CATALOGUE T20 BRANDS TO DISCUSS POSTPONEMENT OF OLYMPIC GAMES AND 2020 IFSC SEASON
On Tuesday, April 7, IFSC President Marco Scolaris was joined by representatives of brands listed in the IFSC Catalogue T20 for a teleconference about the Olympic Games postponement, in addition to the rescheduling of the 2020 IFSC calendar of events.
The meeting saw the participation of Mathieu Achermann of Flathold, Laurent Laporte of Cheeta, Mark English of Rockcity and Spasina Nedyalkova of XCULT. IFSC General Director Piero Rebaudengo, IFSC Routesetter Advisor Adam Pustelnik, and members of the IFSC Sport Department were also present.
Mr. Scolaris informed the brands of the IFSC Executive Board’s weekly meeting during the current COVID-19 outbreak, ensuring that the IFSC is up to date with the constant changes caused by the ongoing pandemic. He advised that the IFSC is working to reorganise Sport Climbing’s participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, in addition to monitoring and planning around the current IFSC World Cup season.
“Together we stand, divided we fall,” concluded the IFSC President, citing Pink Floyd. Mr. Scolaris also wished for all to be safe and stay home during this period.
With the 2020 Olympic Games being postponed, IFSC Sport Assistant Hazel Han gave updates surrounding the Tokyo 2020 Test Event and the status of the shipment of the holds to Japan, where they will be stored in Tokyo 2020’s Main Distribution Centre until next year’s event. IFSC Sport Director Silvia Verdolini also offered an overview of the 2020 calendar, explaining the internal deadlines set to make decisions regarding upcoming events.
