Great Britain’s Shauna Coxsey Elected VP of the IFSC Athletes’ Commission
Following the IFSC Climbing World Championships 2019 in Hachioji, Japan, the IFSC Athletes’ Commission (AC) saw the election of six (6) new members. Newly elected Shauna Coxsey (GBR) MBE has now been appointed as Vice President of the Commission, subsequent to a unanimous decision by the AC during a meeting held on Thursday 19th September.
As per the approval of the IFSC’s Member Federations to include a female Athlete Representative on the IFSC Executive Board, Coxsey will now join the Board alongside AC President Sean McColl (CAN), bridging the gender gap and allowing athletes’ voices to be better represented moving forward.
"I am delighted to take on the role of Vice President of the Athletes’ Commission. I have always been passionate about the positive development of our sport and I look forward to working together with the other members of the Commission and IFSC at such a pivotal time for our sport,” says Vice President of the IFSC Athletes’ Commission Shauna Coxsey.
Coxsey claimed the title of overall Bouldering World Cup winner in both 2016 and 2017 and took home two bronze medals at the IFSC Climbing World Championships 2019 (Bouldering and Combined). In June 2016, Coxsey was awarded an MBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for her services to climbing.
