Janja Garnbret Nominated for Sportswoman of the Year Award
Currently holding a combined World Cup ranking of first place and having swept the entire 2019 IFSC Bouldering World Cup season, becoming the first Sport Climbing athlete in history to take home a gold medal from every single event, Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret is up for this year’s Sportswoman of the Year Award.
Honouring the year’s best in women’s sports, the Women’s Sport Foundation’s Sportswoman of the Year Award aims to recognise both an individual and a team sport athlete whose performances over a 12-month time span have been exceptional. Sport Climbing’s very own Janja Garnbret, who last year achieved first or second place in every IFSC event in which she competed, is now one of ten Individual Sport Finalists to be nominated for the prestigious award.
The winner of each category will be the athlete who receives the highest combined share of a public vote (50% of composite) and the Awards Committee vote (50% of composite).
Cast your vote for Janja Garnbret here. Voting closes at 11.59pm EST on Friday 2nd August 2019.
Award winners will be announced on 16th October at the 40th Annual Salute to Women in Sports. Find out more about the award here.
