IFSC President Meets President of the IOC in Lausanne, Switzerland
On Friday 12th July, IFSC President Marco Maria Scolaris met with President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Meeting at the recently opened Olympic House, headquarters of the IOC, President Scolaris and President Bach discussed preparations for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, where Sport Climbing is set to make its summer Olympic debut in just over one year’s time. President Bach also congratulated President Scolaris on the great success of the Sport Climbing event at the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018, which saw the first ever Olympic Sport Climbing medals be awarded to our young athletes.
“As we grow nearer to the one-year countdown to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, it is fantastic to have the support of not only the climbing community, but also the IOC, behind us. Let’s show the best of Sport Climbing to the world,” says IFSC President Marco Scolaris.
