IFSC Presents Olympic Engagement Project at the CWA Summit, USA
On May 15-17th, key stakeholders from the indoor climbing industry gathered in Loveland, Colorado (USA) for the The CWA Summit, an annual conference and trade show organised by the Climbing Wall Association. IFSC Secretary General Debra Gawrych and Charlotte Durif, IFSC Consultant, attended the Summit to meet industry members and present updates regarding Sport Climbing at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
Sixty significant figures from the indoor climbing industry, most of whom were from North America, attended the IFSC presentation, which focused on the background of Sport Climbing’s inclusion in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic programme, current and future challenges faced by the IFSC, and the goals of the IFSC’s Olympic Engagement Project. During an open discussion which followed the presentation, the IFSC received positive feedback concerning the topics raised.
After several European meetings in the months preceding the conference, the CWA Summit marked the first North American touchpoint of the IFSC Olympic Engagement Project. Olympic discussions will continue at the upcoming IFSC Bouldering World Cup in Vail, Colorado, (7-8th June) where a workshop is set to take place.
