IFSC Refreshes Website Design

Bringing comprehensive coverage of international Sport Climbing athletes, events and latest news to its stakeholders and fans worldwide, the IFSC website is getting a makeover on the climb to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.

In five years, activity of the global Sport Climbing community at ifsc-climbing.org grew from less than 300,000 page views in September of 2013 to more than 1.5 million page views in January of 2019. Altogether, pages on the IFSC website were viewed more than 27.5 million times between 2013 and 2019.

To attract even more new and young visitors to Sport Climbing, the IFSC is refreshing both the organisation and appearance of its website across all devices. In terms of organisation, the IFSC built a concise layout which consolidates and improves access to key information, draws attention to major events and athletes, and prominently features Olympics-related content. In terms of appearance, the dynamic nature of Sport Climbing pops off the screen, the unique verticality of the sport is shown rather than told through videos and photos, and young fans can easily find social media accounts from the homepage.

“Hip among youth and the sole purely vertical sport on an Olympic sports programme, Sport Climbing is setting the pace in the sports world, and our updated website organisation and appearance reflect this trend,” concludes Anne Fuynel, IFSC Marketing and Communications Director.
