After their historical performances in 2018 all eyes rest on the Japanese Team, which will be one of the nations to follow closely, most notably Miho NONAKA who won the 2019 Bouldering Championship after finishing 2nd in each IFSC World Cup, except Meiringen, where she won. With 3 victories last year, her compatriot Akiyo NOGUCHI will be a strong contender in the race to the top. The French climber Fanny GIBERT (4th last year) is not far off and is rearing to show her ability and power with this new season. The opposition will definitely come from Slovenia with two amazing athletes, Janja GARNBRET and Katja KADICK.

Slovenia also has a very strong men’s team this year. Jernej KRUDER won the overall Bouldering season after climbing on the podium 5 times in 2018, including in Meiringen were he won a gold medal. After ranked 2nd in 2017 and 2018, as well as 2nd in the World Ranking, the Japanese climber, Tomoa NARASAKI will want to show that he can regain his 2016 IFSC World Championships Paris title where he went face to face with Adam Ondra.
