HIGHAMS’ HIGHLIGHTS: IFSC WORLD CUP WUJIANG 2023
Throughout the 2023 season, the IFSC will bring some interesting facts and figures ahead of our events, in association with statistician Paul Highams. The next set of stats is for the upcoming World Cup event taking place in Wujiang, China from 22 to 24 September 2023 for the Lead and Speed disciplines and is heldindoor at the Fenhu Culture and Sports Center.
HIGHLIGHTS
The IFSC World Cup Wujiang 2023 will be the 394th World Cup event in the history of the IFSC – the 39th in China, which is third on the list of countries hosting the most World Cup events. It will be the eighth time Wujiang has hosted in China which is the joint most in the country alongside Chongqing. The event will feature the 224th men’s and women’s Lead competitions and the 134th men’s andwomen’s Speed competitions.
NUMBERS
A total of 238 athletes from 32 countries are registered for the event:
- 66 in men’s Lead;
- 59 in women’s Lead;
- 63 in men’s Speed;
- 54 in women’s Speed;
PARTICIPATION MILESTONES
- Marcin Dzienski (POL) will make his 62nd Speed World Cup start – fifth on the men’s all-time list
- KIM Jain (KOR) is the most experienced woman registered and will be competing in her 99th Lead World Cup - fourth on the women’s all-time list
