European Championship (B) - Munich (GER) 2017

Start Lists & Results

This year, the European Bouldering Championship coincided with IFSC World Cup Munich, where numerous star European athletes competed.

Tied after the extended IFSC World Cup Munich semi-finals, which served as the European Bouldering Championship finals, Slovenia's star Janja Garnbret and recent The World Games winner Stasa Gejo faced-off in an historic single-problem superfinal. Going attempt-by-attempt with the first high point winning, Gejo completed the early dyno for the European title. Both athletes showed great sportsmanship, raising each other's arms after the exciting conclusion. Petra Klingler joined them on the podium, topping three problems in one less attempt than season Bouldering champion Shauna Coxsey.

Jan Hojer energized the home crowd all weekend long, and he topped three problems in just seven attemps to lead the men's field. His German teammate Alexander Megos, who last competed in IFSC World Cup Munich 2012, finished in second place and was the only male athlete to top the challenging third problem. Anze Peharc of Slovenia won Bronze, requiring just one less attempt to reach three bonus holds than his Slovenian teammate Jernej Kruder.

After strong performances at the European Lead and Speed Championships held on June 30 - July 1 in Campitello di Fassa, Italy, Garnbret and Hojer topped the Combined podium. Romain Desgranges and Anak Verhoeven were the Lead champions, and Iuliia Kaplina and Marcin Dzienski won in Speed.
