Personal details

When you started competing in international competitions, did you see yourself being in the top-10?
Yes, I hoped!!! Maybe because we were 5 paraclimbers in the World!

what motivated you to compete rather than just to climb outside?
To me, with my disability, it’s very different to climb outside or inside! Outside, I am free and I can climb alone. When I climb inside, my guide and I are a team! With his voice, I can climb harder routes than outside.

What are some struggles you face as an athlete?
Since my accident, I had many hurts and surgery. I had to motivate myself through each of them.

What influenced you to start competing?
I wanted to discover this new experience, and also the world of training. At the beginning, I wanted to meet others paraclimbers. After my accident, I saw Nicolas Moineau thanks to IFSC’s streaming during Bercy 2012!

Who most helped you get to where you are right now?
At first, every people who saved my life after my accident! Then my friends who helped me to get back to mountain. My wife who supported me. Then finally my coach Gérome Chapelle who taught me a lot!

What advice could you give to Young Athletes?
Live day by day! Keep the fun during training, on the way to the big day.

What are some of your favourite hobbies?
During winter, I practice a lot of cross country skiing with friends who guide me.
I like to run in the mountains behind my house and I'm also a little geek in my lost hours!!
