    The third Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) commenced yesterday (9th January) in Lausanne, Switzerland. Further cementing the IFSC’s position within the Olympic family, IFSC President Marco Maria Scolaris and Head of Olympic Coordination Jérôme Meyer attended the spectacular YOG opening ceremony at the recently opened Vaudoise Arena in Lausanne.

    The IFSC Executive Board meets monthly via teleconference and twice yearly in person, during the IFSC Plenary Assembly in March and the December Executive Board meeting in Turin, Italy, where the IFSC headquarters is located. Thursday 12th – Friday 13th December 2019 saw the Board convene in Italy to review the 2019 season, prepare for the year ahead, and discuss ongoing matters relating to the development of both the IFSC and Sport Climbing as a whole.

    On Tuesday, December 3, 2019, Sport Climbing was officially approved for the Youth Olympic Games 2022 to be held in Dakar, Senegal by the International Olympic Committee. This time, the event will feature Bouldering and include a total of 24 athletes, 12 per gender.
