When you started competing in international competitions, did you see yourself being in the top-10?
My first international competition was the World Youth Championship in Edinburgh in 2004 and I was 9th.
What motivated you to compete rather than just to climb outside?
I tried really hard for competition when I am young. That motivate me all the time.
What are some struggles you face as an athlete?
It is always hard after getting the results that were not so good. But the key is hidden in this moment.
What influenced you to start competing?
Yuji Hirayama. He was a really strong climber and I wanted to be like him!
Who most helped you get to where you are right now?
Hidekazu Ito. He was a World cup competitor and also my coach.
What advice could you give to Young Athletes?
Everyone keeps progressing forever. But if you forget about it, it stops. Keep enjoying progress every day!
What are some of your favourite hobbies?
