When you started competing in international competitions, did you see yourself being in the top-10?
I started doing EYC's in my first youth B year. Back then there were no bouldering comps for Juniors, so i was a lead climber till my last Junior year. My lead performances never were outstanding and a Top10 season seemed to be out of reach. Even after my decision to do bouldering World Cups it took me a couple years to get there.
What motivated you to compete rather than just to climb outside?
I like the challenge, the pressure and the relentlessness of bouldering comps, in addition to the rock climbing life style.
What are some struggles you face as an athlete?
Nowadays the level at the World Cups increases every year and taking the preparation seriously and spending all the time in the gym is definitely the hardest part, when you could also just chill and go rockclimbing.
What influenced you to start competing?
I kinda grew into it, doing regional comps when i was 11 and nationals later on.
Who most helped you get to where you are right now?
I always enjoyed climbing, competing and also training and just never quit.
What advice could you give to Young Athletes?
Don't try to chase grades or titles. Just do what you love and you'll thrive if passion and talent foregather.
