SPORT CLIMBING SET TO GET UNDERWAY AT THE WORLD GAMES BIRMINGHAM 2022

Climbing begins at The World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, tomorrow as 72 climbers compete for medals in Boulder, Lead, and Speed.

The Sport Climbing events will run for three days between 14 and 16 July at the Sloss Furnaces, an outdoor venue close to the University of Alabama, and it will be the fifth time the sport has made an appearance.

The 11th edition of the World Games got underway on 7 July, and will run until 17 July, with medals already handed out in sports like Karate and Breakdancing.

There will be familiar faces across all the disciplines with athletes such as Olympic medallist Nonaka Miho of Japan in the Boulder competition, recent World Cup medallist Jesse Grupper of the USA in Lead, and the exciting Speed world record holder, Kiromal Katibin of Indonesia taking part.

Saturday, 16 July:
9:00 AM - Lead qualifications
5:00 PM - Lead finals
