IFSC ATTENDS WORLD GAMES PREPARATORY MEETING IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA, USA

Ahead of the World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, a second Competition Managers Meeting was held in the host city from 29 to 30 November. A number of International Federation representatives were welcomed by the Birmingham Organising Committee (BOC) and International World Games Association (IWGA), including International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Multi-Sport Games Officer Hazel Han.

Various topics of conversation were covered during the two-day conference, ranging from broadcasting, communications, and media operations, to anti-doping, event operations, and Games services. The gathering was also an opportunity for the IFSC to visit Sloss Furnaces – a national historic landmark and event space which will house Sport Climbing, breaking, beach handball, and parkour during the Games.

Sport Climbing is set to make its fifth appearance at the World Games from 14 to 16 July 2022. In accordance with the IFSC Qualification System for the competition, the Federation will invite eligible athletes via their respective National Federations from February 2022.

The IFSC thanks the BOC and IWGA for their warm welcome in Alabama, in addition to their continued collaboration and support in the approach to Birmingham 2022.
