Chamonix, France, is a staple in the IFSC World Cup series, having hosted events since the beginning of the IFSC. This year, a new cast of world-class sport climbing athletes head to the renowned mountain village for a rematch in Lead.
The start lists in Lead are loaded with big-name athletes, both young and veteran climbers looking to shine on the world stage. Romain Desgranges returns to France to compete in front of his home crowd after winning the season debut at Villars. Victor for the women Janja Garnbret will join him, as well as her Slovenian teammate and fellow 2016 season champion Domen Skofic. Canadian Sean McColl missed the first event but the Combined champion last year will compete at Chamonix. A number of rising stars will join them, among whom are French national champion Nolwenn Arc and youth world champion Sam Avezou. Also keep an eye on youth world champion Margo Hayes, competing in her first IFSC Lead World Cup in Chamonix.
