When you started competing in international competitions, did you see yourself being in the top-10?
No, I was so surprise to make my first final last year (2014)
What motivated you to compete rather than just to climb outside?
I think it’s the game, the challenge, the atmosphere when you feel the pressure. You have just 4 minutes to climb your best, it’s so exacting, and some movement gives unique sensation, pretty intense. I like to deal with the psychological aspect.
What are some struggles you face as an athlete?
Find solutions by myself to train well when I’m alone. I don’t have much free time for my social life (I have to deal with my engineering studies, busy schedule) Find somewhere to climb everywhere I want to go. Stay focus on my lifestyle throughout the year, especially before competition.
What influenced you to start competing?
My friends and my brother whom I followed and the coach of my club Thierry Caillaud.
Who most helped you get to where you are right now?
My parents, my coach Nicolas Januel, and my engineering school (INSA Lyon)
What advice could you give to Young Athletes?
I think training and competitions should always be pleasant so keep in mind that it’s a game and enjoy it. I believe, the key of success is to be 100% involved, know what you want and why you want it.
- Swimming, practicing every sport, beach volleyball.
